Dr Rajeev Sukumaran is currently heading the Biofuels and Biorefineries Section of the Biotechnology Division of CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST), at Thiruvananthapuram, India and is the activity lead for Centre for Biofuels (CBF), CSIR-NIIST. His main research interests include-Developing enzymes for biomass conversion, Glucose tolerant β-glucosidases, heterologous protein expression in fungi, and fungal genomics. He4 heads ateam workign on difefrent aspects of lignocellulose conversion to bioethanol. He played leading roles in setting up the CBF’s lignocellulosic ethanol pilot plant, and the solid state enzyme production pilot plant. He has also served as consultant for Biotech companies in India. He is the academic editor of British Biotechnology Journal, Review Editor for Frontiers in Biotechnology, and is a member of the editorial board of Conference Papers in Energy and Waste Water Management (Frontiers in Environmental Science). He has authored more than 70 publications in International Journals, besides several book chapters and reports.
